Statement by Lisa Levin, CEO of AdvantAge Ontario, which represents more than 480 providers of long-term care, seniors’ housing, supportive housing and community service agencies:
"Today we welcomed great news that the government has committed to cover costs associated with Bill 124 wage resettlements for not-for-profit long-term care homes. This helps address a looming funding crisis that would have exacerbated staffing issues and jeopardized resident care.
Our Association has been relentlessly advocating on this issue. We are extremely pleased with the government’s decision. This announcement shows that government listened. It demonstrates government’s commitment to not-for-profit homes. We are profoundly grateful to Minister of Long-Term Care Stan Cho, former minister of Long-Term Care Paul Calandra, and their cabinet colleagues for acknowledging the importance of a sustainable not-for-profit LTC sector.”
