Stabilizing Seniors’ Care in Ontario: Investing in Critical System Supports

In Ontario, chronic underfunding of long-term care, coupled with the continuing impacts of COVID-19 and the government’s ongoing layering of additional red tape on homes, is creating instability within the sector. This results in a dire situation for seniors who have few other options in Ontario as they age and require support.
Our pre-budget submission proposes investments in seven key areas to stabilize the long-term care sector and connect it to the larger continuum of care that is Ontario’s health care system. It is not just long-term care that is in distress; the whole system is near its breaking point. As such, the whole system needs attention and investment, and we are calling on the Ontario government to take action.
