FebriDx (Pr-Febri Decks) is a 10-minute "all in one" rapid test kit that uses capillary blood to rule in and out both bacterial and viral infections associated with acute upper respiratory tract infections. Sensitivity, specificity and negative predictive values are in the mid to upper 90%. The test is sensitive to bacterial (Group A & C Beta Hemolytic Strep, N gonorrhea, C Diptheria, M, C, Pneumoniae, B Pertussis, Fusiform bacteria) and viral (Influenza A/B, Adenovirus, RSV 1-2, Parainfluenza Virus 1-4, Metapneumovirus, Coronavirus 1-2, Herpes simplex, Epstein Barr, Cytomegalovirus, Ebola, H1N1, H5N1, HIV, and Rhinovirus). Being sensitive to so many bacterial and viral strains allows immediate management with antibiotics, antivirals, or patient isolation allowing for further testing (eg Covid 19).
