Join us for this special in-person capital development session tailored specifically for all long-term care homes with Capital Projects. 

 

Whether you’re just starting out or your project is well underway, this workshop will equip you with the most current information to make your capital development a success.  A broad array of sector experts, including Montgomery Sisam Architects, will be on-site to provide guidance on design standards, planning, approvals, cost management and more. Get your questions answered, network with colleagues, and see these concepts in action with a tour of our host home’s recent redevelopment.

Cancellations: Cancellations will be accepted up to five working days prior to the date of the program less a 15% administration fee that will apply regardless of the status of payment. Neda Basharat B.A.S, M.Arch., OAA, MRAIC, LEED GA, GGP, Associate Montgomery Sisam Architects

Neda joined Montgomery Sisam in 2015 with a rich and varied portfolio of work, ranging from small-scale renovations to large-scale, multi-phase campus projects spanning both the private and public sectors.

A registered architect with keen design skills, strong technical proficiency and exceptional project management, Neda is a valuable asset to her project teams. Her work is largely concentrated in long term care and seniors housing, helping a number of private, municipal and charitable organizations to achieve renewal and growth.

Neda has been the Project Architect for many long-term care homes including Runnymede Health, UHN Lakeside II, Fairvern and multiple projects for Sienna Seniors Living. This work has provided her with important insights into balancing specific programmatic needs, operational requirements and aesthetic objectives with MOLTC requirements.

Neda is committed to a design process that is greater than the sum of its parts, building strong working relationships with clients, consultants and coworkers. Her work focuses on meeting user needs and client requirements through the purposeful synthesis of site, materiality and detail. Deeply invested in sustainable architectural practices; she is both a LEED Green Associate and Green Globes Professional, and is well versed in efficiency principles and green design.

 Jonathon Bingeman is the Vice President, Finance and Digital Transformation at Providence Care, a Kingston-based academic health system focused on specialized care in aging, mental health, and rehabilitation.   His portfolio encompasses finance, information management, and information technology across Providence Care’s operations including hospital, transitional care, long-term care, and community programs.  Prior to joining Providence Care, Jonathon spent several years with both Hamilton Health Sciences and Deloitte in a variety of roles covering treasury, capital planning, data analytics, and financial controllership.  Jonathon is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and holds an MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.

Tony Ross B.Arch., OAA, MRAIC, Principal Montgomery Sisam Architects

Tony joined Montgomery Sisam in 2006, becoming a Principal in 2016. With his ability to effectively coordinate the work of large multi-disciplinary teams, work under tight time constraints and make informed decisions quickly, Tony is exemplary of the exceptional standard of customer service this office delivers. He works to carefully balance project needs and client objectives without compromise.

Fundamental to Tony’s experience is a strong, ongoing working relationship with the City of Toronto. For over 15 years, he has played a key role on hundreds of city-led initiatives, including the City of Toronto Long Term Care Homes and Services Division Capital Project portfolio, Kipling Acres Redevelopment and the George Street Revitalization. Having gained invaluable expertise navigating complex municipal requirements and approval processes, Tony is assisting public and private clients in Toronto develop buildings and urban conditions that support renewed vitality, growth and opportunity in the city.

Tony’s extensive and varied body of work includes many notable projects, among them the University of Toronto Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the York School North and South Campuses and the phased redevelopment of Kipling Acres. Blending management skills with comprehensive industry knowledge, he ensures a seamless transition between design and construction.

Through his studies across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the United States, Tony has developed a strong design sensibility and is committed, regardless of scale or budget, to delivering high-quality architecture.

 


Santiago Kunzle, Principal, Montgomery Sisam Architects, Dipl. Arch., LEED AP
Santiago joined Montgomery Sisam in 1990 and became a Principal in 2001. Santiago has designed and delivered over 2.5 million square feet of seniors housing that spans the spectrum of care for municipal, not-for-profit, charitable, and private LTCs. He has authored a number of studies for the MLTC/MOHLTC examining the implementation of LEED initiatives and sustainable design strategies respectively in long-term care homes. Santiago is also deeply interested in the future of LTC in urban environments and on the integration of LTC into mixed-use developments.


 

Sue Graham-Nutter, CEO,
Rekai Centres and Past Chair of AdvantAge Ontario

As the CEO of the Rekai Centres ,which owns and operates two Long-Term Care homes in downtown Toronto, Sue Graham-Nutter not only oversees both homes, but is also working to build a new home at Front and Cherry St.

Once the new Rekai Centre at Cherry Place is open, it is the goal of the Rekai Centre to repupose the Sherbourne site to become Supportive Housing. 

“Making a difference in society has always driven me,” she says. “We want to see individuals housed appropriately.  The needs of individuals living with mental health, substance abuse or addiction issues, are very different than a senior experiencing dementia. The Rekai Centres is in a fortunate position owning real estate in the downtown core and having a public policy oriented Board of Directors.”

A graduate of the University of Toronto, Humber College and Harvard University, Sue is the Vice Chair of AdvantAgeOntario.

She is also the Chair of the Toronto Public Library, and a Board member of the Business Board for the University of Toronto.
