According to the Continuing Care Reporting System data, 3 of 4 residents have complex medical needs, and high care needs when entering long-term care, putting this population at significant risk of pressure injury development. Older adults with pressure injuries have double the risk of mortality, with rates ranging from 46-77%,. Our long-term care homes need to be prepared to handle this growing complexity through their tools and processes.

National Wound Care Specialist, Arjo
Misha works with Arjo as a National Wound Care Specialist. She has worked in healthcare for 16 years, with experience as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care II, clinical education and change management. Prior to her nursing degree, Misha worked as a UCP for high-risk older adults. Misha’s nursing background is at one of the world’s top-ranking hospitals, where she was a member of the wound care quality improvement committee. She went on to provide clinical education for the nursing degree and diploma programs within the University Health Network, and surrounding long-term care homes in the Greater Toronto Area. She has experience in a variety of clinical settings including acute care, public health, community health, long-term care and rehabilitation. Misha has served on quality improvement committees in pain management, team health and wound care. She was part of the working group for the 3rd edition of the RNAO’s Best Practice Guidelines on Pain Management, and continues to work with homes to improve their quality improvement processes surrounding pressure injury prevention and skin and wound health.

To have multiple staff members participate, each staff member must either complete a separate registration form and pay the full fee or listen in from the same room (e.g., a conference room).

Cancellations: Cancellations will be accepted up to five working days prior to the date of the program less a 15% administration fee that will apply regardless of the status of payment. Registrants who fail to attend the program or cancel after the deadline date shall be liable for the full fee. There is no charge for delegate substitutions. The AdvantAge Ontario Education Department reserves the right to cancel or reschedule this program.
