Join your long-term care colleagues for a full day of connection, learning, and shared problem-solving focused on nutrition and food service excellence.
This full day, interactive, in-person workshop will bring together dietary and nutrition professionals, clinical leaders, administrators, and quality leaders to explore the challenges and opportunities facing food and nutrition services in long-term care.
The morning will focus on compliance, inspection readiness and sector priorities, with insights from Ministry of Long-Term Care staff, former LTC inspection professionals, the Ontario Seniors Nutrition and Advocacy Committee (OSNAC) members and other sector experts. You will learn about current inspection trends, Ministry expectations, common compliance challenges, and practical approaches to building a culture of ongoing readiness and quality improvement.
The afternoon will shift from compliance to collaboration, innovation and resident-centred care. Hear directly from long-term care homes about their experiences, including how interdisciplinary teams are working together, responding to challenges, improving the dining experience, supporting staff and using practical strategies to improve resident satisfaction.
Throughout the day, you will ask questions, share experiences and learn from your colleagues facing similar challenges. A lunchtime resource showcase will also connect you with sector organizations and resources that support food and nutrition programs in LTC.
Participants will:

- Hear real-world examples from long-term care homes and learn from their challenges and successes

- Learn how homes are using innovation and shared knowledge to improve food and nutrition services

RD, Director, New Developments and Special Projects, Seasons Care Dietitian Network
Stacey Scaman serves as a Corporate Dietitian Consultant at Seasons Care Dietitian Network, where she provides leadership and support to Long-Term Care (LTC) organizations. In addition to offering clinical nutrition and food service assistance to LTC Dietitians and Nutrition Managers, she helps with the development of policies, procedures, and program planning. Stacey also offers guidance and education to Long-Term Care Homes across Ontario. She leads special projects, including new LTC home builds and acquisitions. As a key member of the Ontario Seniors Nutrition & Advocacy Committee (OSNAC) and the Food & Nutrition Advisory Team (FNAT), Stacey advocates for better nutrition and dietary standards for seniors in LTC. She has been recognized with several awards for innovation, creativity, and excellence in seniors' nutrition, including the prestigious Marie Taylor Award for Excellence in LTC.

Registered Dietitian, RAC-CT, Corporate Dietitian Consultant, Seasons Care Dietitian Network
Twinkle Patel, RD is a Registered Dietitian Leader with 20 years in Seniors Care. Her passion for food started in her grandfather’s bustling restaurant, and evolved into a career that blends good food with good nutrition. For the past 18 years, she been with Seasons Care, embracing their Food First philosophy. Twinkle’s expertise spans menu planning, Mentoring Registered Dietitians and Nutrition Managers, and leading quality improvement initiatives. Today, she provides operational leadership across Long-Term Care and Retirement Homes, empowering teams to excel — a reward almost as sweet as chocolate.

Project Lead Operational Readiness, Rockwood Terrace, County of Grey
Karen Kraus is the Executive Director at Rockwood Terrace located in Durham. Karen has over 25 years experience working in long-term care with 10 years as a Food Services Manager and 15 years as the Executive Director at Rockwood Terrace. Karen is committed to providing quality person centred care that algins with Grey County’s Colour It vision. Over the years Karen has participated on several committees with our healthcare partners to collaboratively implement quality initiatives that support positive change for our residents, families, and team members. The Rockwood Terrace redevelopment project is underway, the new 128 bed home will be built by early 2026. Karen’s leadership skills and expertise of long-term care processes, policy and legislation has a played a crucial role in the design concept that honours the community’s history, while colouring it into the future.

Mary has over 35 years’ experience in the field of seniors’ care and services in both government and the private sector. Throughout her career, she has held executive and senior leadership positions with varied portfolios focused on seniors’ care and services involving long-term care home regulatory oversight (compliance and enforcement), strategic and operational policy development, privacy, corporate and crisis communications, and government relations. She has also served on numerous long-term care sector and government Committees, workgroups and expert panels. Mary retired from the Ontario Public Service a few years ago and provides consulting services to the long-term care home sector. She is currently Chair of the Board of Directors, Ontario Association of Residents’ Councils (OARC); and a Member of the Advisory Board of Sheridan College’s Centre for Elder Research.

Cancellations: Cancellations will be accepted up to five working days prior to the date of the program less a 15% administration fee that will apply regardless of the status of payment. Registrants who fail to attend the program or cancel after the deadline date shall be liable for the full fee. There is no charge for delegate substitutions.
