Association Op-Ed: LTC needed help, not inspectors

When Ombudsman Paul Dubé released his report earlier this fall on COVID and long-term care, AdvantAge Ontario was very concerned that his message that inspections equal safety missed a large part of the story. He said at the time that “The direct result of the lack of inspections, reports and enforcement was a lack of protection for residents and staff and a lack of accountability for the system.”

We believed it was important to clearly convey that what homes desperately needed was more support, not more enforcement. We prepared a very pointed op-ed that was recently printed in the Ottawa Citizen, and we encourage you to read it.
