This August, Sherwood Park Manor translated a day on the green into a brighter future for staff and residents, raising $23,000 for the Manor’s redevelopment project.
On Friday, August 16, 120 enthusiastic golfers teed off at the Prescott Golf Club for the Manor’s 1st Annual Legacy of Care Golf Tournament, supporting the Legacy of Care redevelopment campaign. In partnership with more than 100 local sponsors, the tournament raised $23,000 for the ongoing capital redevelopment which will see one of Brockville’s few non-profit long-term care homes transformed into a state-of-the-art centre for care and life enrichment.
“The redevelopment project will mean we can provide the standard of care our community deserves and help meet the growing number of people waiting for a bed in a long-term care home,” says Nancy Nesbitt-Boucher, Sherwood Park Manor’s Executive Director. “This golf tournament by extension is more than just an investment in our home, it’s an investment in the Brockville community for the next 50 years and beyond.”
The golf tournament was made possible with financial donations from local community partners including Silver Meridian and CANARM, as well as in-kind support from local businesses who generously donated live and silent auction items.
The round of golf was completed with a celebratory dinner, a live auction, and closed out with thanks from Ken Durand, Chair of the Board.
“This project is doing double duty for our community by not only serving a critical need but also providing good jobs right here in Brockville,” says Ken.
Funds raised from this event and others to come, will be used to finance the construction of the redevelopment project underway at the Manor’s current location. In addition to adding capacity, the Manor will offer new life enrichment and care facilities including hydrotherapy and cryotherapy programs, as well as a Snoezelen multi-sensory room for residents.
