AdvantAge Ontario released the following statement on Bill 124.
AdvantAge Ontario has long advocated for changes to Bill 124, Protecting a Sustainable Public Sector for Future Generations Act, which prevents not-for-profit homes from increasing staff pay by more than one per cent per year. We strongly support the recent call to repeal a section of the act that prevents nurses from receiving pay increases beyond one per cent. However, government must go further by exempting ALL health care workers for the artificial cap. Our front-line workers are working under enormous strain, as are our homes. We must level the playing field.
AdvantAge Ontario has been the trusted voice for senior care for over 100 years and is the only provincial association representing the full spectrum of the senior care continuum. Our more than 400 members are located across the province and include not-for-profit, charitable, and municipal long-term care homes, seniors’ housing, assisted living in supportive housing and community service agencies.
