Statement from Sue Graham-Nutter, Board Chair of AdvantAge Ontario, on Air Conditioning in LTC

AdvantAge Ontario represents Ontario’s not-for-profit and municipal long-term care homes.

Our members provide care anchored in compassion, respect and kindness. They work tirelessly every day to make their homes safe, welcoming, and comfortable for their residents. Many homes had already installed air conditioning long before the government mandated it in resident bedrooms as well as in common areas.

The vast majority of homes have also met a new government requirement to extend air conditioning into resident bedrooms.

While the remaining homes have been hampered by the same supply chain issues that have impacted others worldwide throughout the pandemic, they are working aggressively to move forward with installations as quickly as possible. AdvantAge Ontario is working diligently with members to ensure they have the resources they need to comply with government regulations.
