Statement on New Provincial Minister of Long-Term Care

January 17, 2022

Lisa Levin, CEO of AdvantAge Ontario, released the following statement on the new provincial Minister of Long-Term Care:

“On behalf of the members of AdvantAge Ontario, I want to congratulate Minister Paul Calandra on his recent appointment as Minister of Long-Term Care. This is a very critical juncture in our sector as we continue to battle this pandemic. We look forward to working closely with him to ensure that Ontario’s long-term care residents get the excellent, compassionate care they need and the dedicated front-line and management staff who deliver that care are fully supported.

We also wish to thank Rod Phillips for his service as Minister of Long-Term Care. We appreciate his efforts to strengthen our sector, most notably the development and launch of the Not-for-Profit Loan Guarantee Program, a years-long request from our Association that will result in low-cost financing for hundreds of not-for profit homes. We thank him for listening to the sector, and we wish him the very best in his return to private life.”
