Creating a sustainable and effective resident handling program is essential to protecting both residents and caregivers from injury while promoting dignity and mobility. In this session, Arjo Clinical Consultant Jennifer Roach, PTA, ISWA, will walk attendees through the critical components of building and maintaining a safe resident handling program—from choosing the right equipment and optimizing physical spaces, to developing staff training and support systems.
Jennifer will also share practical tools and evidence-based resources to help organizations enhance their existing programs or establish new ones. Whether you’re in the early planning stages or seeking to refine a mature initiative, this webinar will provide valuable guidance for safe, compliant, and resident-centered care.
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
• Understand the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in a safe resident handling program.
• Make informed decisions regarding equipment selection and understand space requirements for safe usage.
• Utilize resident mobility and point-of-care risk assessment tools to guide equipment use by mobility level.
• Conduct appropriate sling selection and assess risks related to textiles and materials.
• Apply foundational biomechanics principles to ensure safe and efficient maneuvering of equipment.
