Venu Event Space

Note: This workshop is not being recorded.

Join your long-term care colleagues for a full day of connection, learning, and shared problem-solving focused on nutrition and food service excellence.

This full day, interactive, in-person workshop will bring together dietary and nutrition professionals, clinical leaders, administrators, and quality leaders to explore the challenges and opportunities facing food and nutrition services in long-term care.

The morning will focus on compliance, inspection readiness and sector priorities, with insights from Ministry of Long-Term Care staff, former LTC inspection professionals, the Ontario Seniors Nutrition and Advocacy Committee (OSNAC) members and other sector experts. You will learn about current inspection trends, Ministry expectations, common compliance challenges, and practical approaches to building a culture of ongoing readiness and quality improvement.

The afternoon will shift from compliance to collaboration, innovation and resident-centred care. Hear directly from long-term care homes about their experiences, including how interdisciplinary teams are working together, responding to challenges, improving the dining experience, supporting staff and using practical strategies to improve resident satisfaction.

Throughout the day, you will ask questions, share experiences and learn from your colleagues facing similar challenges. A lunchtime resource showcase will also connect you with sector organizations and resources that support food and nutrition programs in LTC.

Participants will:

  • Gain insight into current LTC inspection trends, Ministry expectations and food service priorities
  • Learn practical strategies for inspection readiness, compliance and sustainable quality improvement
  • Hear real-world examples from long-term care homes and learn from their challenges and successes
  • Explore ways to strengthen nursing and dietary partnerships as well as interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Discover approaches to person-centred dining, resident satisfaction, staff education and onboarding
  • Learn how homes are using innovation and shared knowledge to improve food and nutrition services

Whether you are a Dietary Manager, Nutrition Manager, Director of Care, Administrator, Nurse, or quality leader, you will discover practical ideas, new connections and strategies that you can bring back to your LTC home.
